Out In Tech Digital Corps

Recently, I had the honor of representing WordPress.com and Automattic at the Out In Tech Hackathon, an event where queer tech professionals come together to create websites for queer advocacy organizations in countries where LGBTQ identities are illegal. The event was a unique opportunity to meet with developers and aspiring tech professionals, all united in their desire to make a positive social impact.

As a representative of WordPress.com and Automattic, I was proud to share how our platform could support their efforts. WordPress.com is a powerful tool that enables anyone to create a website, regardless of their technical expertise. We provide an intuitive interface, a wide range of templates and customization options, and excellent customer support to help users achieve their goals.

But the real focus of the event was on the people involved. The participants were incredibly passionate about making a difference and using their skills to support the LGBTQ community in countries where they face discrimination and persecution. As a queer person myself, I was deeply moved by the dedication and commitment of the volunteers.

The hackathon was also an opportunity to meet with other professionals in the tech industry who share a commitment to social justice and diversity. It was inspiring to see so many people come together to create positive change.

At the end of the event, I was impressed with the creativity and innovation on display. The websites that were created were both functional and visually striking, and they will undoubtedly make a difference in the lives of people in countries where LGBTQ identities are illegal.

But the real impact of the event goes far beyond the websites themselves. It was an opportunity to build relationships and networks, to connect with other professionals who share a common goal, and to inspire the next generation of tech professionals to use their skills for good.

Speaking on behalf of WordPress.com and Automattic at the Out In Tech Hackathon was a profound honor. The event was a reminder of the power of technology to bring people together and to effect positive social change. I am grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of it, and I look forward to seeing the impact that these websites will have in the years to come.
